April’s Freemium SF Bay Area Meetup at Elance marked our Meetup’s first anniversary. Our moderator, Cynthia Typaldos of Kachingle, introduced speakers from Elance, engajer and Open Garden to nearly one hundred attendees. Freemium is still the rage, but discussion extends to other monetization strategies, pricing issues and business models. “How is anyone going to get somebody to pay?” is the central question. The Director of PwC, Amit Dhir, gave a very insightful presentation about how to approach pricing in the shifting world of Software at our Freemium Meetup this February. He spoke about the significant shift in the software industry’s approach to software licensing.
Jason St. Peter presented Dell’s $100M commitment to entrepreneurs through the Dell Innovators Credit Fund. Amit Dhir from PricewaterhouseCoopers explained software pricing methods, and Melinda Wittstock from NewsiT app monetization from the NewsiT perspective. Cynthia Typaldos, Founder of Kachingle explained bundling software apps and Kachingle’s micropayment system. A fifth presentation by Brian Anderson, a DELL Global Business Development Executive is not available on this video.
